Buck Hill State Forest is located in the Town of Western, Oneida County, 12 miles north of Rome and 13 miles south of Boonville. There are approximately 4 miles of truck trails that form the network of trails throughout the 1,647-acre state forest. These trails are ideal for cross-country skiing during the winter or a day hike in the summer months. Buck Hill is the highest point in the forest with a limited vista, along with nearby Clark Hill, which also has a vista from its summit. Hunting, fishing, and camping are also allowed in the forest.
